Glazed chicken wings on a white serving plate with rosemary

Bone-in wings baked and tossed in buffalo sauce. Ordered by the eight or the sixteen, and almost never eaten without something to dip them in.

Example prices — verify at official checkout. Menu pricing is set independently by each franchise store and changes without notice.

Pizza-shop wings occupy a specific niche. They're not going to beat a dedicated wing place with a proper fryer, and anyone claiming otherwise is being generous. What they are is genuinely convenient — arriving hot alongside a pizza, at a price that's usually well under what a wing specialist charges, in a format that works for a group.

Most chain pizza operations bake rather than deep-fry, for practical reasons: the ovens are already there, the process is more consistent across hundreds of stores, and it avoids the mess of a fryer line. Baked wings have thinner skin and less crunch than fried, but they carry sauce well and they're less heavy.

Ordering strategy

Sauce on the side is the single most useful request. Wings sit in their sauce during the drive, and by arrival the skin has absorbed most of it and gone soft. Dipping as you go keeps some texture. It also lets you control the heat level per wing, which matters if you're feeding a mixed group.

On quantity: eight wings is a light side for two people or a snack for one. Sixteen feeds three as a shared starter. For a proper wing-focused meal, count on ten to twelve per person, which usually means the bulk portion.

Dips and the classic pairing

Blue cheese is the traditional accompaniment for buffalo, and there's logic to it beyond tradition — the fat and mild funk offset cayenne heat more effectively than ranch does. Ranch is the more popular order in most markets, though, and it's a perfectly good choice. Get one of each if you're ordering for more than two people.

Nutritionally, wings run high on sodium and moderate on calories per piece. It's the sauce and the dip that do most of the damage, not the chicken.

Classic Buffalo Wings: your questions answered

Most large pizza operators bake them, since the ovens are already in place and the process is more consistent across many stores. Baked wings have thinner skin and less crunch than fried, but they hold sauce well and are lighter.

More from the chicken menu

Breaded white-meat chicken pieces, baked until the coating firms up. Sauce them, dip them, or put them on a pizza — plenty of people do.

The pizza every other pizza gets compared to. Tomato sauce, a generous mozzarella layer and enough pepperoni to curl and crisp at the edges under the oven's heat.

Grilled chicken, hot buffalo sauce, onions and provolone over a mozzarella base, finished with a ranch drizzle. Heat with a cooling counterweight built in.
