Creamy pale dip in a clear glass bowl

A warm butter-and-garlic dip built for crusts, wedges and bread. The one dip that turns leftover crust ends into something worth eating.

Example prices — verify at official checkout. Menu pricing is set independently by each franchise store and changes without notice.

Dips are the cheapest upgrade on any pizza menu and the one most people skip. A dollar or so buys you a small cup that meaningfully changes how the last third of every slice tastes — specifically, it makes the crust ends worth finishing instead of leaving in the box.

Garlic butter is the workhorse of the category. Warm, rich, mild enough not to fight whatever it's paired with, and it works across almost the whole menu: pizza crusts, bread twists, wedges, even the corner of a sandwich. If you only order one dip, this is the one.

What it actually is

A butter-based blend with garlic, a little salt and usually a touch of herb. It's served warm, which matters — cold garlic butter separates and tastes waxy. If yours arrives cool, ten seconds in a microwave brings it back.

The economics

Dips are high-margin items for the store, which is exactly why they're often thrown in free during promotions or included with certain sides. If you're ordering bread or wings, check whether a dip is bundled before adding one separately.

For a group, order more than you think you need. One cup covers one person comfortably; two people sharing a cup will run out and someone will be irritated about it.

Pairings that work

Garlic butter with a plain cheese pizza is the classic combination and it's classic for a reason. It also works surprisingly well with a spicy pizza, where the mild richness offsets heat. Where it struggles is against something already garlic-forward — pairing it with garlic bread twists is a bit redundant, and marinara would serve you better there.

Note that this is a dairy-based product, so it's out for anyone avoiding milk. Marinara is the reliable dairy-free alternative on most menus.

Garlic Dipping Sauce: your questions answered

One cup per person is the right ratio. Two people sharing a single cup will run out partway through and someone will be annoyed. Multi-packs usually cost less per cup than ordering them individually.

More from the dips menu

The pizza every other pizza gets compared to. Tomato sauce, a generous mozzarella layer and enough pepperoni to curl and crisp at the edges under the oven's heat.

A ring of mozzarella baked into the outer edge so the crust stops being the part you leave behind. Straightforward cheese and sauce across the top.
